Revelations

Next Tuesday night, my mom and I have prime seats to see the Alvin Ailey American Dance Company perform Revelations. I am so geeked about seeing this production. This is only my second time seeing the company perform. The last piece I saw performed by the company was River.

And besides, I’ve talked about wanting to be Made into an Alvin Ailey dancer when I was younger, so do you really think I’m going to miss one of Ailey’s productions when it comes to my city? I will be there with bells on!

I would LOVE to see them live. Dance is such a beautiful art form. And the combination of skintones of black folks! That show’s going to be beautiful.

i have to get my tickets as well. i can’t wait. i went last week to see the african dance troupe that came from atlanta. they were great.

You will definately enjoy the show. I loved all the pieces. Thing is, with all the hype of Revelations it wasn’t my favorite.

Okay…I’m officially jealous. I see Alvin Ailey almost every year and I missed them when they were in DC last month! Whenever I see them, Revelations MUST be inlcuded in the performance. For a while I thought I was limiiting myself and that I should explore other pieces (and I have), but Revelations MOVES me each and every time I see it. The last time I was at a show I bought the Revelations soundtrack…think I might have to pop it in now and let it take me away.

I’m with Darbs on the jealous train. I missed Ailey’s annual run at the Kennedy Center this year for the first time in 6 years, and I’m still kicking myself. I’ve seen Revelations twice, so I was hoping to catch some of their new productions. Drats! Anyway, enjoy the performance for you and me both, Nik.

I’ve never seen them. I will have to see if they are ever near Greensboro to check them out.

River was good no doubt… but personally, I think Revelations is better by far. You’ll love it!

Dang! I have never seen the AA shows before. They dont make it here to Detroit often. My mom loves them and I have looked them up for the last two years and they have not been near here in a while.

I love Alvin Ailey. The last time I saw an Alvin Ailey production, they did this piece to Stevie Wonder’s ‘They won’t go where I go’ and I got chills watching it. The things they do with their bodies… its so beautiful. I was so moved. Enjoy the show.

I saw revelations when the group came to DC; I took my mom too. It was awesome.

I saw a free performance of the Alvin Ailey dance company a few years ago and absolutely loved it. I’d wanted to see the show ever since I was a kid and it was great to finally get the chance. You will love it.
