Chasin’ the Cat

Jan 11

Today my new puppy, Bailey, is 8 weeks old. He’s learned so much since I got him. He does his business on the newspaper like he’s supposed to. And he’ll even walk over to the door and scratch it to inform me if he wants to go outside to do the deed instead.

But for as much as he’s learned, he’s still a baby. He loves to take a nap in my lap. And for the most part, I don’t have a problem with that. But for the life of me, I cannot figure out why he likes to burrow his head in my crotch.

And it’s not just Bailey. My brother’s grown Chow Chow is the same way. Whenever I go to my brother’s house to do our sibling bonding and his dog is indoors, TJ (the Chow Chow) will walk over to me while I’m sitting on the couch, and place his big ol’ head into my crotch. What’s that all about?

  1. You got that “good-good”. HA! :-)

  2. reese used to do that until he was about 2 years old. now, that he’s older, he prefers resting between my legs, but closer to my shins and feet. it’s weird. i’m convinced, it’s a phase.

  3. I have always had that problem with dogs, as well. It freaks me out.

  4. I guess cause that’s the warmest part of us. My girl’s pom does that to me too.

  5. I guess it’s because … hmmm.. I better not even say it ; )

Nikki, I have two poodles and I think it is just a boy dog thing. The girl prefers to sit on my lap or lay on my shoulder like a baby, but the boy dog will stick his nose right in my crotch without regard for manners. I wish I could say they will grow out of it, but I think it is a possessive kinda thing.

You can break him of it if it bothers you too bad. I stopped jazz from doing almost 90% of the time but If I am ignoring him too much he will plant his nose to catch my attention.

  7. All I can think about after this post is the song Hmm Hmm, by Beenie Man. Sorry…

Wait….so hold on….if i do that, can i get away with it? lol…j/p. Yea, probably not. The analysis here is so cerebral. It’s all about ownership I believe.

  8. Animals are funny creatures. Where are pictures of the new baby?

  9. Umm. Perhaps it was that time of the month. Canines have a very keen sense of smell ;)
