Higher Learning

I was at the post office this morning purchasing stamps (still can’t believe the price has gone up to 42¢), and I saw a young man, who was a senior in high school, and his mother mailing his college application to some institution of higher learning.

What really impressed me was that this young man wasn’t content with just putting a stamp on the envelope to mail his application. He had the application overnighted to the college.

His mother said to him, “Are you sure you want to overnight it?” With conviction, the young man replied, “This is my future.” That right there, said it all to me. I love to see young people eager to advance their education.

As Donald Lawrence and the Tri-City Singers say in their gospel song, The Blessing of Abraham, “It’s your inheritance. Get your inheritance!” So, get your inheritance, young man. I wish you well in your quest to achieve a higher education.

its great to know that not all of our youth are lost.

WOW, glad to know that he knows how important that is to his future.

It is wonderful to see a young person that serious about his future.

Now THAT was a great story…great work on the podcasts Nikki!!

it’s not the easiest thing to find people like that nowadays. no one wants to work hard anymore it seems.

He is not.playing! He is to be commended for his efforts. I hope he keeps that mindset.

he’s well on his way.

That’s impressive!

I have been singing and playing “The Blessing of Abraham” for the last few days now. I’m getting ready to start a business and write my second novel. Songs like that really let me know that I can have it all because I am an heir!

that is awesome…..

my daughter keeps telling me she is going to MSU (Mississippi State University) and has been since she was 9 yrs old. i told her girl you will change your mind and end up at another university. i do not know which one she will attend, but i’m so proud she is considering it at an early age and pray that she keeps that ambition to attend college.
