Tyler Perry’s The Family That Preys
Jul 16

Tyler Perry is back again, y’all. This time it looks like he may have a surefire hit on his hands with The Family That Preys. Yes, his movies have made millions at the box office, but I’m talking about a real hit, and not just people attending the film because his name is attached to the project. This go ’round, Tyler touches on the subject of social classes and scandal.
Cast: Kathy Bates, Alfre Woodard, Tyler Perry, Cole Hauser, Sanaa Lathan, Rockmond Dunbar, Taraji P. Henson, Robin Givens, Kadee Strickland, Sebastian Siegel
Plot Summary: Wealthy socialite Charlotte Cartwright (Kathy Bates) and her dear friend Alice Pratt (Alfre Woodard), a working class woman of high ideals, have enjoyed a lasting friendship throughout many years. Suddenly, their lives become mired in turmoil as their adult children’s extramarital affairs, unethical business practices and a dark paternity secret threaten to derail family fortunes and unravel the lives of all involved. Alice’s self-centered newlywed daughter Andrea (Sanaa Lathan) is betraying her trusting husband Chris (Rockmond Dunbar) by engaging in a torrid affair with her boss and mother’s best friend’s son William (Cole Hauser).
While cheating on his wife Jillian (Kadee Strickland) with a string of ongoing dalliances with his mistress Andrea, William’s true focus is to replace the COO of his mother’s lucrative construction corporation. Meanwhile, Alice’s other daughter Pam (Taraji Henson), a kind but no nonsense woman married to a hard working construction worker (Tyler Perry), tries to steer the family in a more positive direction.
As paternity secrets, marital infidelity, greed and unsavory business dealings threaten to derail both families, Charlotte and Alice decide to take a breather from it all by making a cross-country road trip in which they rediscover themselves and possibly find a way to save their families from ruin.

OOH.WEE! I can’t wait! I just cain’t!
This looks good to me Nikki. This sister will definitely be in line.
People like to hate on Tyler Perry, but I keep saying, by that 10th movie, he’s gonna have it together. Good thing he has his own money to do what he wants to do. And I’ll be going to see this one for sure.
LMAO @ the 10th movie! Yeah, LadyLee, I think Tyler may have found the one movie to finally make him legit. But what I wanna know is…..was that wig he’s wearing in the preview really necessary?
This actually looks good. I’m glad I’m not the only one wondering if that wig was really called for. LOL!
wow this actually sounds like a tyler perry movie i’d watch
Tyler does sucky TV shows. But he does great movies. I’ll be there.
Sorry…until I see Dark Knight I care about nothing else. Yes I am a Comic book Stan.
i’m good with everything but kathy bates wig. da hell?
(and i refuse to even comment on tyler’s “curly fro”.)
i saw the trailer for this and i can’t wait to see this movie, looks good.
I love the previews for this. It looks phenomenal. The coolest thing about this movie is that it’s not really a Black movie. It’s not a white movie either… this storyline could have been done with both white families or both black families… its about class and money and common struggles. And there is no over the top ghetto baffoonery… I can’t wait to see it.
