Oprah Said No

Sep 08

Oprah Winfrey said no to an interview with Sarah Palin and the Republicans are in an uproar.  After coming out in support of Barack Obama, Oprah decided not to use her show as a platform for the upcoming Presidential election.

I agree with her.  If she’s not going to let Obama and Biden use her show to speak to voters, then why would the Republicans think that she’d let Palin come on and speak to voters as well?  The Republicans say that Oprah’s show would be a good way for Palin to connect with the women voters.

Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t McCain’s camp say that this was not the reason they chose Palin as a running mate?  Not because she’s a woman and will garner votes from women voters?  If that’s the case, then why are you trying to connect with women voters through Oprah’s show?

Sounds like a huge contradiction to me, but that’s nothing new, because since selecting Palin as his running mate, McCain’s camp has been a ball of contradictions.  No experience, too young, etc.  Isn’t that what you said about Obama?  Pot, meet kettle.

  1. They bashed her for endorsing Obama over Hillary, now this.

Palin hasn’t even done one creditable interview yet, so why would Oprah want her on?

  2. The Governor….of Alaska? A mass of land that we all have a tendency of forgetting is part of the United States???

Okay, back on topic…..yeah, even if Oprah did allow Obama/Biden to use her show as a platform, why would the McCain/Palin camp think it was okay? How come she’s not asking ELLEN, Maury…hell, the VIEW for that matter? Their actions are an indirect bashing of Oprah. In the past, Oprah has had political candidates on her show….but I’m assuming that she has learned her lesson and decided against using her show as a political forum.

It would be nice if folks did their research before popping off at the mouth, and staging boycotts.

  3. The republicans will be alright. tee hee hee.

  4. we were talking about this when it first hit. oprah doesn’t have to do a damn thing. she is not an independent journalist. i wanna see this chic totally unscripted. she is hot mess!!

  5. I completely support Oprah on this one…

  6. This is why I love my job: I was at a conference yesterday that involved several government workers. One is who you would call to find out what money goes where.

Despite the record oil profits…Alaska has gotten more money from the government in the last few years then anyone with 2 exceptions in one year: Mississippi and Louisiana. I’m sure you can guess which year and what the money went to.

  7. I am over the Sarah Palin. Its so crazy to me how the Republicans have been calling Obama a celebrity and rockstar, etc… but now they are playing the Sarah Palin card as totally the same thing. No interviews… until this big highly publicized interview? A politician who wants us all to vote for them refusing to show her record or take interviews?!?

Oprah is over it too I am sure. I think this is all so stupid, and so are the Republicans.

  8. It’s Oprah’s show and its her perogotive if she doesn’t want to invite anyone on her show.

Just another way of the Rethuglicans trying to put a black woman in her ‘place’. Disgusting

  9. I think they asked Oprah knowing full well she would say no, and they’d attempt to cast a negative light on her to attempt to turn some of her viewers/Obama supporters against them.

To what leoninatl said–it is indeed disgusting what they’re doing to Barack and Oprah. What do black folks have to do to get some respect?! If not Oprah and Barack…?

  10. All I can do is laugh. It’s her show. You can’t MAKE someone do what YOU want them to do with THEIR own VEHICLE.

  11. I’m not an Oprah fan(tell me many men who are…j/k) but I support this sister 100% It’s amazing how this party motto is, “do as I say…not as I do.”
She talked about Obama and his books, now there is book out there about her, (ya know they did a rush job on that), she said Hillary was a “whiner” now she’s crying foul.

Karl Rove, ya trained this chick well…but not good enough.

  12. i tell you. this is starting to get really silly now. how can you possibly get upset if someone doesn’t want you on their show? When did Oprah become an official news outlet? Go and do a real interview and stop complaining because someone decided not to follow your script. Once again, the McCain/Palin campaign has found another way to insult the intelligence of America. I hope that they are proven wrong in the end.
